NEW RULES
 
All tournaments conducted by the Federation upto 31.3.2009 would be played on these rules
 
  1. All the matches to be decided on the basis of best of three SETS.

  2. Each set to be decided on the basis of a maximum of six boards or 21 (twenty one) points whichever is earlier. The same system to be followed in all matches from 1st round till final.

  3. There will be NO time limit for completion of each set.

  4. Time limit for making a stroke by a player will be 10 seconds.

  5. Queen to be covered as per existing ‘Laws of Carrom’.

  6. Queen will have three different values at different stages, as follows:

    1. FOUR points for Queen when 5 or more c/m of a player pocketing the Queen are available on the board at the time of covering the Queen.
    2. THREE points for Queen when 4 or 3 c/m of a player pocketing the Queen are available on the board at the time of covering the Queen.
    3. TWO points for Queen when 1 or 2 c/m of a player pocketing the Queen are available on the board at the time of covering the Queen.

  7. Since each set has been reduced to 21 points, the value of the Queen, as above, will be credited at all stages of the set irrespective of the score.

  8. In case of equal points at the end of 6 boards, tie breaker and sudden death formula will be applied.

  9. Players will have to report to their respective carrom boards for each match FIVE minutes before the scheduled time. Players can test the boards for 2 minutes and shall start their matches right in time.

  10. On conclusion of first set, the second set to be started immediately. However, players will be allowed two minutes rest within the playing arena between second and third sets.

  11. There will be a 20 minute limit for completing each set of a match for all sub-junior and cadet events to be conducted at all levels including State and District levels. However, time limit of 20 minutes for completion of each set shall be made applicable in all Inter-School, Inter-College and Institutional Women tournaments and/or other events, at the discretion of the State Associations.

  12. Team events in national championships will be organised on league-cum-knock out basis while individual events in all national level tournaments/championships to be organised on knock-out basis.

  13. Team events will continue to be played on the basis of two singles and one doubles matches.

  14. Other rules/laws will remain same as provided in the ‘Laws of Carrom’.
